Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM EST
Event Description:
The 2017 Fogle Author Series presents its final author, Elizabeth Berg, who will speak at Rodman Library on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 2:00 p.m. in Rodman Main Auditorium. Elizabeth Berg began her career writing for magazines as a columnist for both New Woman and Parents. Before writing, she was a registered nurse for ten years, and that was her “school” for writing—learning about human nature, about hope, fear, love, loss, regret and relationships. These are the elements she tends to focus on in her work. Women in transition are the theme of her fiction. She has written 21 novels, three short story collections, and two nonfiction books. Many of her books have been New York Times bestsellers. Three novels were made into television movies. Berg’s first novel, Durable Goods, won the ALA Best Book of the Year award. Her eighth novel, Open House, was an Oprah Book Club pick. She has also been honored with the New England Booksellers Award (NEBA) for her body of work. Her most recent release is Make Someone Happy, a collection of short works originally posted online. Her next novel is titled The Story of Arthur Truluv about a trio of friends. Berg lives in Oak Park, Illinois, but is a frequent visitor to San Francisco and Boston. Her newest novel due for release November 2017, The Story of Arthur Truluv, will be available for purchase at the time of the program which the author will then sign.
