Event Description:
Jack Weber, Jr., will present The Past in Review on Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m., in Rodman Library’s Main Auditorium. One of the most popular features of The Alliance Review is “The Past in Review” column that chronicles what happened in Alliance 100, 75, 50 and 25 years ago. Weber, who researches and authors the column, will discuss why the column was started, what he looks for and what he leaves out. He will also share photographs and memorable stories that he has included in the column along with “the rest of the stories” not included in the paper. A lifelong resident of the Alliance area, Weber is a 1995 graduate of Mount Union College who began his career in journalism in 1994 as a sports stringer at The Alliance Review and eventually became the newsroom leader. A winner of five individual Associated Press awards and numerous staff awards, he currently works as a multimedia copy editor for GateHouse Media Ohio, parent company of The Alliance Review, and has been compiling the column since 2017. He and his wife, Amanda, have one child, Jackson, and a dog, Skittles. The program is sponsored by the Alliance Historical Society and is free and open to the public.
