A page from an old travel book leads a vivacious parolee to a small town in Wisconsin. There she finds a new home, working at the Spitfire Grill - the depressed town's only local eatery. Up for sale without a buyer in sight, a newcomer to town suggests that the owner raffle the restaurant to the person who submits the best essay, complete with a one-hundred-dollar entry fee. Mail begins to arrive in droves and things start heating up a the Spitfire Grill.
