Chapter Chat Children's Book Club Begins at RPL
A new book club for children, Chapter Chat, begins at Rodman Main Library on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 4:15, in the Children’s Program Room. Chapter Chat now combines the individual Boys and Girls Clubs into one club for all children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. It includes a book discussion, games and activities, and meets on the second Wednesday of each month. January’s book is Matilda, by Roald Dahl. Registration is required for a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. To register, or for more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Teen Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament at RPL
For intense one-on-one, head-to-head competition, join us on Tuesday, January 15, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., in Rodman’s Main Auditorium for an exciting afternoon with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that will be played on the Nintendo Switch™. The tournament will start promptly at 3:15 p.m. It will consist of double elimination, best two of three, three lives per match, random characters and random map. Each person gets to pick one map not to play. If either map gets chosen at random, simply hit the random button one more time. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finalists. Upon completion of the tournament, participants may play other video and board games. Snacks and beverages will be available. The event is free and open to all teens, ages 12-18. TWEEN COUNCIL STARTS AT RPL
A Tween Council is starting at Rodman Main Library beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 4:15 p.m. It is open to enthusiastic 4th to 6th graders who want to make a difference in the library. Tweens will meet the third Wednesday of the month to share ideas for upcoming programs, current trends, and what they and their peers are reading. Rodman Library Branch Hosts Evening Penguin Storytime with Hot Pots
Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Penguin Storytime on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 6:30 p.m., or Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to paint a ceramic “Slider the Penguin” figurine. Snacks will be offered. The cost is $10.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333.

MAKE & TAKE BIRD FEEDER FOR KIDS AT RPL
Kids, make a pine cone bird feeder at the library and take it home with you! This hands-on program takes place on Thursday, January 17, at 4 p.m., in the Children’s Program Room. A picture book will be read with fun facts about various birds found in their backyards. Kids will then make a bird feeder out of a pine cone, peanut butter, and bird seed. All supplies will be furnished. No registration is needed. This program is for children with an adult caregiver. Kid's Play Group Begins at Rodman Library
A new play group for children is starting at Rodman Library. Make friends, play, and share stories on every third or fourth Saturday in the Children’s Program Room from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., beginning on January 19. This play group is designed for children to learn, socialize, and explore through play. It is aimed for birth to kindergarten ages with an adult caregiver, but all are welcome.
